Rosemary Mule Mocktail Recipe

These days more and more folks are participating in Dry January. Whether it be a New Years resolution, a health reset after holiday indulgence, or a lifestyle shift, a month without alcohol can feel like a sacrifice of sorts. But does it have to? With the holidays now over and months to go before the return of the sun, it’s important to find ways of bringing celebration into our lives. Which is why we like to think of Dry January as a celebration. And what better way to celebrate then by making copious amounts of delicious mocktails to replace the boozy beverages we might be missing?

We’ve concocted more than a few herb-inspired mocktails over the years, but for this latest recipe we wanted to put our touch on a classic. The beloved Moscow Mule. Traditionally, a Moscow Mule combines vodka, ginger beer, and fresh lime. A simple but undeniably appealing combination. For our version we chose to use plain sparkling water as our base and then craft an herbal simple syrup using dried herbs, sugar, and water. Though we love the classic ginger and lime mule flavor profile, we really can’t help but want to add more herbs to everything we do, and rosemary seemed like perfect way to add some herbaceous depth to this particular variation. May this sparkling beverage help bring some celebration to your Dry January, and remind us that it is not about what is missing but what we have in front of us!

Rosemary Mule Mocktail

Ingredients

  • Rosemary ginger simple syrup
  • Sparkling water
  • A quarter of a fresh organic lime
  • Fresh organic rosemary and lime for garnish (if desired)

Directions

  1. Add ice to empty glass.
  2. Fill glass 3/4 with sparkling water.
  3. Add 3-4 Tbsp of Rosemary ginger syrup, juice from the lime and stir gently to combine.
  4. Garnish with a spring of fresh rosemary and/or a wedge of lime and Enjoy!

Pro Tips

  • For prolonged shelf life you can freeze simple syrup in ice cube trays and then transfer to sealed, freezer safe, container.
  • If using honey instead of sugar for syrup, remove rosemary ginger infusion from heat and allow to cool slightly before stirring honey in. Since honey has its own distinct flavor, we recommend adding it gradually and to taste.
  • For an added flair, include sprigs of fresh rosemary in your ice cubes before freezing.

Contraindications

Honey is not safe for children under the age of 1.
