Fire Zodiac Perfume Recipe with Essential Oils

Roll-Top Perfume with red flowers inside surrounded by essential oils

Over the past few months, I have been working on an elemental perfume series. I first tapped deep into the soil to find inspiration for an Earth Goddess blend. From there, I dove into the sea to create a whimsical Mermaid Blend made with “juicy” ylang ylang and brisk bay laurel. Then I soared amongst the clouds to create a blend with “go-with-the-flow” vibes that was crafted with ravensara and coriander. The last stop on this aromatic journey was to be fire, and I had been waiting patiently for inspiration to strike me. Boy did it ever! My community was hit with a bad ice storm that resulted in hundreds of fallen trees and dangerous conditions. I was stuck at home without electricity or internet for several days and was fully reliant on my wood-burning stove for heat, cooking, and entertainment. During this time, I became deeply reacquainted with fire.

Fire taught me again about its strength, creativity, ability to transform, and soothing warmth. Fire brings the potential for new life to emerge. Our zodiac fire signs are similar; they, too, are strong and creative. They possess great passion and warmth. They are playful and generally like to entertain. I tapped into these aspects of fire to create my final zodiac perfume blend. All of the blends in this elemental series can be enjoyed by the represented signs or those who need some inspiration from other signs to rebalance. They are meant to be loved and shared as needed.

As I sorted through my essential oils by candlelight, I took great care and attention, in choosing the oils. I wound up with three that were beckoning to play together in a fiery dance.

Bergamot: Bright, confident, and radiant, bergamot really shines in this blend. This top note corresponds with the outgoing nature of the fire sign. The oil tends to be well-loved by fire signs as it quenches a little of the heat while still allowing our Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius to shine their light.

Clove bud: As many know, our fiery friends can be spicey! This aroma celebrates their creativity and passion and makes a harmonizing middle note in this recipe.

Palo Santo: This base note is my favorite oil in this blend. Sweet palo santo is transformative and brings harmony to the sometimes harsh aspects of fire. It moves energy to make room for new things to come our way and offers a soothing sensation to the discomfort transition can sometimes bring.

From here, all you will need is a neutral carrier oil, and a sprinkle of herbs if you want to include an esthetic enhancement and you are well on your way to creating homemade natural perfume for you and others.

DIY Fire Zodiac Perfume Blend

Makes (1) 10mL of perfume.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Drip essential oils into a 10mL roll-top bottle.
  2. Cap the bottle and roll between palms to incorporate oils.
  3. Remove cap and add flowers (optional).
  4. Pour in carrier oil of choice.
  5. Cap the bottle and roll in palms once again to incorporate.
  6. Label your bottle, enjoy, and share!

Pro Tips

  • If crafting these in bulk, I recommend creating a big batch of the essential oil blend and adding about 30 drops of that into each bottle.
  • When choosing a carrier oil, opt for ones that have little to no scent of their own. I prefer jojoba and sunflower oils.
