Full Moon Roll-On Perfume

Each lunation (also known as a lunar cycle), we watch as Mother Moon waxes and wanes; our thoughts and actions wax and wane alongside her. If you've been following this series, you know that we welcomed the New Moon with intention setting for ourselves. Then, during the Waxing Quarter Moon, we put action to those dreams; we planted seeds and supported our mental sharpness with energizing aromatics. Now, as we enter the Full Moon, or what I like to call the "Lunar Crescendo”, we are prepared to reflect, let go, and make space for new dreams to flourish. While this is essential,  it can come at a cost of heightened emotions and a feeling of heaviness.

This is where aromatherapy can lend a helping hand. This blend was formulated with the goal of grounding the person while also and moving energy. It features two base notes which give the sensation of being “held.” I called upon a dear ally of minevetiver. This sweet and resinous oil brings about a certain softness while opoponax resin oil adds another grounded, but slightly bitter note to the blend.

With a strong foundation to build on, I worked in sweet marjoram and elemi, two often overlooked oils with spectacular uses in aromatherapy. Sweet marjoram is relaxing to the senses and offers a great balancing oils for strong bases like vetiver. Elemi adds a bit of spiciness and is used to help move energy. Elemi is a resin that comes from an evergreen tree, meaning that while it’s a middle note, it still brings the energetics of deep rootedness. In Filipino culture, elemi was used by healers for protection and energetic cleansing. The full moon felt like the perfect time to work with this special oil. Lastly, I added just a touch of sweet orange, to pick the blend up.

The resultpure aromatic bliss with which to celebrate the last lunar cycle, and to help release that which you don’t want to bring into future moons.
