Buzzwords are everywhere these days and “sustainability” is right there at the top of the list. But what does it mean to use sustainable business practices? It’s often defined by the triple bottom line – people, planet, and profit – a term coined by author and entrepreneur, John Elkington, in 1994. Elkington believes in corporate responsibility, sustainable development, and looking at the full cost of doing business.
Mountain Rose Herbs takes the premise of the triple bottom line one step further and promises to put “people and planet before profit.” We consider the environmental and social impact of every business decision we make. We are proud to be a group of environmentalists and social justice activists working every day to provide the highest quality organic herbs to our customers. We’re a company with a conscience!
We’re active members of local and regional trade associations that help propel us forward on the sustainability path. These groups include GreenLane Sustainable Businesses Practices, Willamette Valley Sustainable Foods Alliance, Provender Alliance, and the Sustainable Food Trade Association. We also regularly partner with the University of Oregon’s Center for Sustainable Business Practices and its graduate students.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our sustainability efforts!
