Organic vs. Non-GMO: What's the Difference?

Written by Alyssa | April 24, 2018

One of the most powerful ways to promote a healthful life is taking ownership of what we put in (and on) our bodies. That's why we work so hard to offer our customers organic and non-GMO botanicals they can trust!

Thankfully, most of the herbs and spices we all use for food and herbal creations are not in danger of industrial genetic modification at this time, so organic certification is our go-to standard for ensuring that our herbal offerings are grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, GMO seed stock, or irradiation.

While all of our products are rigorously tested in-house for quality and purity, for offerings that carry an elevated risk of GMO contamination, we partner with the Non-GMO Project. This monitoring organization examines critical points in a product's supply chain to ensure that an herbal offering is not produced with any genetically-modified inputs. Non-GMO Project verification provides an additional, third-party layer of assurance that your herbal goodies are all-good! We know that that peace of mind means a lot to the folks who support us, which is why we continue to get more products Non-GMO Project verified each year. Check out the current list of Non-GMO Project offerings from Mountain Rose Herbs, including two new additions for 2018 (indicated by an "*").
