Just recently Mountain Rose Herbs was formally recognized by the Lane County government for our Zero Waste program which has had a tremendous impact on the waste issue that the state of Oregon is plagued with. I just got the confirmation e-mail in November that we were accepted as a winner and recipient of the Lane County Trashbusters award, and I must confess that I was overcome with pure ecstatic delight and I could not help the creeping sensation of giddiness which caused a few distracted days for me. It was a real hoot to meet with the County Commissioners during session, and the awards were given out during the actual board session, which added an "air of authenticity" to it all. A television interview on KEZI followed the award ceremony, which was tastefully done, only because the interviewer had “environmental leanings” and was impressed with the Zero Waste program put into place by Mountain Rose Herbs, and this can be viewed below. If the interview was done by a conventional member of the press I fear they would have made us look like trash busting enviro-freaks, led by irrational delusions centric upon taking over the world with our kooky ideas to save the planet. Most folks simply don’t understand our moniker of “People and Planet Before Profit”
