The winter holidays are such a feast for the senses: not just our tastebuds, but also our eyes, ears, and olfactory system. This time of year, our public spaces are full of bright lights, festive music, and perfumed everything. Unfortunately, those expensive store-bought candles, diffuser oils, and room sprays are often made with synthetic ingredients that aren’t a healthy choice, no matter how much they promise to imbue us with the spirit of evergreen forests, candy canes, and homemade pumpkin pie. Diffusing natural essential oils—at home, at work, or in your car—is a wonderful alternative to scent your space with seasonal aromas. We love these three time-tested, holiday-inspired, DIY essential oil blends!
These blends are customer favorites for use with a diffuser, but also for winter-themed wax melts, perfume blends, room sprays, and body care recipes. That’s why we wrote these recipes in parts instead of specific amounts. You can count the parts in drops, teaspoons, or even larger measurements if you’re working on a big batch of something. Need a refresher on measuring in parts? Here’s a blog that explains it.
To use these blends in a diffuser, follow the instructions for your model, as different styles require slightly different quantities. Also be aware of how to safely diffuse oils if you have small children or pets.
Remember, if you want to use one of these blends in a skincare recipe, it’s important to calculate the right dilution to make your formulation skin-safe. We recommend no more than 1-2% essential oils in skincare recipes. Our handy Essential Oil Dilution Chart will help you figure out the correct amount(s) to use for your formulation.
