There has been a lot of talk about self-care lately, and with good reason. With this last year weighing heavily on many of us, there is a renewed focus on the ways in which we can offer ourselves some TLC. One of my favorite ways of having a quiet moment with myself this time of year is to go on long walks and hikes. Nothing brings me a sense of calm more than adventuring outside with my pup. Unfortunately, my feet do not seem to feel that same serenity after a long walk, and recently my attention was brought to one area of my body that I routinely neglect—my feet!
Feet can be easy to forget about. They quietly and diligently do their job of supporting us throughout the day, carrying us from one place to another, and putting up with all kinds of interesting footwear choices. I will admit that until recently, I rarely thought to offer them the regular attention that may have been ideal. However, with my newfound foot soreness, taking care of my feet has become one of my favorite new self-care routines! Foot soaks are a wonderful way to unwind after a long day, whether you are standing for long periods of time, or just feel the need for some extra care and relaxation. You will want to make sure you plan for a time when you can sit quietly for an extended period of time. I like to do this in the evening while I am sipping on my tea and reading.
Makes about 1 quart.
I like to make larger batches of this herb mixture and store the excess in a large pantry jar so that I have it on hand. Feel free to experiment with different ratios or herbs.
