All About Clary Sage!

Written by Christine | July 6, 2012

I'd like to share a little info about one of my favorite essential oils...

Clary Sage!

Distilled from the flowering tops of the Salvia sclarea plant, this tall flowering biennial is often planted in ornamental gardens, and grows well with Lavender. Their scents blend well too! The oil is considered a pale or light yellow, and has an intoxicating bittersweet aroma.

Considered an adrenal gland tonic, this oil stimulates and energizes the body, making it wonderful for helping with lack of energy, or as a morning pick-me-up to get your day started. Simply rubbing a drop on your temples can create a slight euphoria. I often start my work day diffusing a couple drops of Clary Sage and Palmarosa.

Clary Sage also makes a quick, easy, and natural deodorant. Add it to a deodorant spray, or apply 1-2 drops directly under the arms. I keep a bottle in my office not only to diffuse, but also for those days when I leave the house a little too quickly. Clary Sage blends well with most citrus and floral oils. It also has a strong fixative power that makes it useful in formulating soaps and fragrances.
